Phyllis Ann (Payne) Mason

November 18, 1953 ~ January 31, 2015 (age 61)


Phyllis Ann Payne Mason, 61, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2015 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond

She was born in Madison County on November 18, 1953 to the late Rev. William R. "Dinky" Payne, and to Mary Catherine Smith Payne of Paint Lick.She worked for Dresser Industries, as well as the Madison County Farm Bureau and Alpha Credit in Irvine. She was a member of the Lighthhouse Baptist Church in Berea.

Phyllis married the love of her life, Seth Park Mason, on October 12, 1974, and they recently celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her courageous battle with brain cancer, with many weeks of grueling Chemotherapy. Throughout her own struggle with Cancer, she was an inspiration to all, always smiling and never giving up. She was a true testament of God, and He was with her all the way. She was known for her love of God. Her presence made life easier for everyone around her. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and sense of humor was an inspiration to all who knew her and will never be forgotten.
In addition to her mother and husband, Phyllis is survived by: two sons, Joseph Keith "Joey" Mason and William David Mason (Jullian); one daughter, Rebecca Nichole "Becky" Messina (Matt); one special sister, Brenda Kidd (Earnie); three grandchildren, Lillian Alizabeth Mason, Luciana Isabelle Mason and Christian Joseph Mason; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1371 Gabbardtown Road, Berea, with Bro. Roy Himes and Bro. Butch Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Monday, at the church.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: Bryan Kidd, Tony Kidd, Chris Kidd, Mike Hickam, Darrell Hickam and Chris Mason.
The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.
