Obituary

Gladys Faye Scott Roberts, 84, the widow of Kenneth P. Roberts, passed away Wednesday morning, December 24, 2014 at the Terrace Nursing Facility in Berea.

She was born in Laurel County on May 3, 1930, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lela Parker Scott. She attended school at the London City Schools, The Sue Bennett Training School and College and was a graduate of Union College with a B.S. degree in Education. She taught school in the London City School System, Mt. Sterling Elementary, Jefferson County Schools, Fayette County Schools, and in Madison County at Kingston and White Hall Elementary Schools. She retired with over forty years of service as a teacher.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of The First Baptist Church of Richmond as well as a member of The Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Madison County Retired Teachers Association and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her two children: Kenny Roberts (Marsha) and Kara Roberts Ray (Johnny); two sisters: Juanita House and Polly Stanton; eight grandchildren: K.C. Roberts, Tory Roberts, Taylor Roberts, Michael Roberts, Clint Ray, Jenna Ray, Garrett Ray and Chris Ray; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents; she was preceded in death by one brother: Quentin Scott and one sister: Lucille Johnson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will begin at 11 AM Monday morning at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: K.C. Roberts, Michael Roberts, Clint Ray, Garrett Ray, Chris Ray and Steve House.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members The Dorcas Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
